Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and brown for about 5-7 minutes until no longer pink. Stir in diced onion and cook until softened (4-5 minutes). Add minced garlic and cook for another minute. Mix in marinara sauce, crumbled bacon, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 10 minutes to meld flavors.
- In a medium saucepan, melt unsalted butter over medium heat. Whisk in all-purpose flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until golden and bubbly. Gradually pour in whole milk, whisking continuously until thickened, approximately 5 minutes. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese and garlic powder, seasoning with salt and pepper before removing from heat.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 4 cooked lasagna noodles on top, followed by béchamel sauce, shredded mozzarella, and shredded cheddar. Repeat layers, finishing with a final layer of cheese and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing into portions.
