Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare your muffin pan by greasing it or lining it with paper liners.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, stollen spice, sugar, and dried fruits. Whisk until mixed and no lumps remain.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk or yogurt, and melted butter until blended.
  4. Gently pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and fold together until just combined, leaving a few streaks of flour.
  5. Spoon the batter into the muffin cups, filling each about three-quarters full.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  8. Brush the tops with melted butter and dust lightly with sugar before serving.
