Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather your ingredients.
  2. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in 1/4 cup of flour for about 2 minutes. Gradually add in 3 cups of whole milk while whisking until thickened.
  3. In a large baking dish, layer half of the day-old brioche slices, add 8 ounces of turkey ham, then 1 cup of Gruyère cheese. Pour half of the béchamel sauce over the layers.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining brioche, turkey ham, and Gruyère cheese. Pour the rest of the béchamel sauce over the top.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together 4 eggs and 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Pour this mixture evenly over the casserole.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the casserole is bubbling and golden-brown.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes, then serve warm, with optional eggs on top.
