Equipment

  • 8x8 or 9x9 inch baking dish
  • Medium saucepan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare an 8x8 or 9x9 inch baking dish by lining it with foil and greasing it.
  2. Melt 10 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously for 5–10 minutes until a light caramel color.
  3. Transfer browned butter to a mixing bowl, add granulated sugar, light brown sugar, cocoa powder, salt, coffee granules, and baking powder. Combine well and cool for 5 minutes.
  4. Add 2 cold large eggs and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract to the cooled mixture and whisk until shiny and smooth, about 1–2 minutes.
  5. Gently fold in 2/3 cup of all-purpose flour until just mixed, avoiding overmixing.
  6. Stir in 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of chopped pecans until evenly distributed.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top. Bake for 20–25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the brownies cool in the pan on a wire rack. Drizzle homemade caramel sauce on top and sprinkle with additional pecans and chocolate chips.
  9. Refrigerate the brownies for at least 30 minutes, then slice into 9 brownies.
