Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Combine ricotta cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract; blend until smooth. Add eggs and mix until incorporated.
  3. In another bowl, combine cake mix, oil, water, and eggs. Mix until smooth, about 2 minutes.
  4. Pour the cake batter into the greased baking dish, spreading evenly.
  5. Pour the ricotta mixture over the cake batter carefully.
  6. Bake for 1 to 1 hour and 10 minutes, checking with a toothpick.
  7. Cool the cake to room temperature in the baking dish.
  8. Prepare the chocolate pudding according to package instructions.
  9. Fold the whipped topping into the pudding mixture until blended.
  10. Spread the pudding and whipped topping mixture over the cooled cake, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
