  • 1 tbsp White vinegar Can substitute with lemon juice.
Cheesecake Layer
  • 2 packages Cream cheese Use full-fat for the richest flavor.
  • 1 cup Sour cream Greek yogurt can serve as a substitute.
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter Use only unsalted.
Frosting
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar Ensure it’s sifted.
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract Opt for pure vanilla.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line the cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the sugar, oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar until smooth.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, ensuring not to over-mix.
  5. Pour the batter into prepared pans, bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean, cool in pans.
  6. Beat cream cheese until creamy, add sugar, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
  7. Place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread cheesecake filling and top with the second layer.
  8. Chill the cheesecake for at least 4 hours to allow flavors to meld, preferably overnight.
  9. Beat the butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla for the frosting until fluffy and smooth.
  10. Frost the chilled cheesecake and serve with festive beverages.
