Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onions are translucent.
  4. Transfer the beef mixture into the greased baking dish and layer thinly sliced potatoes over the beef. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheeses over the potatoes and pour beef broth around the edges. Optionally drizzle with milk.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.
  7. Allow to cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

For uniform potato slices, consider using a mandoline. Keep foil on for the first half of baking to avoid over-browning.
