Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9” x 13” baking pan with cooking spray or parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter, 1/4 cup of vegetable oil, 2 large eggs, and 1/2 cup of molasses. Stir until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, sift together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt, and spices: 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon of allspice, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves. Whisk until combined.
- Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Add 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then turn off the oven and leave the brownies inside for an additional 15 minutes.
- After baking, let the brownies cool completely on a wire rack before slicing into squares.
- Optional: Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with vanilla ice cream or sugared cranberries.

Notes
Allow brownies to rest in the oven after baking for best flavor development. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
