Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9” x 13” baking pan with cooking spray or parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter, 1/4 cup of vegetable oil, 2 large eggs, and 1/2 cup of molasses. Stir until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt, and spices: 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon of allspice, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves. Whisk until combined.
  4. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Add 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
