Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium frying pot, pour enough vegetable oil to be about 3 inches deep and heat it to 350°F over medium heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 8 ounces of softened cream cheese, 3 tablespoons of thinly sliced scallions, and ½ teaspoon of garlic powder.
  3. Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center. Brush the edges of the wrapper with water.
  4. Carefully place the assembled rangoons in the pot, frying them in batches for 3–5 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Using a slotted spoon, remove the crispy rangoons from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve fresh with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping.
