- In a medium frying pot, pour enough vegetable oil to be about 3 inches deep and heat it to 350°F over medium heat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 8 ounces of softened cream cheese, 3 tablespoons of thinly sliced scallions, and ½ teaspoon of garlic powder.
- Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center. Brush the edges of the wrapper with water.
- Carefully place the assembled rangoons in the pot, frying them in batches for 3–5 minutes until golden brown.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the crispy rangoons from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve fresh with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping.
