Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, active dry yeast, and granulated sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Pour in yeast mixture and melted butter, mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth. Place in oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours.
  4. Punch down dough and divide into 8 portions. Roll each into an 18-inch rope and shape into pretzels.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil water and baking soda in a pot. Prepare parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds, flipping halfway. Place on the baking sheet after boiling.
  7. Brush pretzels with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  8. Bake pretzels for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.
