For Boiling and Topping
  • 2/3 cup Baking Soda
  • 1 piece Beaten Egg for egg wash

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Activate the Yeast: Combine warm water, melted butter, active dry yeast, and brown sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Make the Dough: Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix with a dough hook on low, then knead for 5 minutes.
  3. Let it Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 30-60 minutes.
  4. Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare baking sheet.
  5. Shape the Pretzel Bites: Punch down risen dough, divide into 8 sections, roll into ropes, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Boil the Pretzel Bites: Boil water and baking soda, then boil pretzel bites for 20 seconds.
  7. Egg Wash and Season: Place boiled bites on baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  8. Bake to Perfection: Bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter after baking.
  9. Serve Warm: Let cool slightly before serving with dips.
