  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
Topping
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour or gluten-free flour
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 cup Milk or almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons Sanding Sugar optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a medium bowl, then add the chopped pears, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Toss well.
  3. Transfer the pear filling into a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, spices, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Pour in the milk and stir gently until just combined.
  6. Spread the topping evenly over the pear filling, allowing some fruit to peek through. Sprinkle sanding sugar on top, if desired.
  7. Bake for about 35 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Let it cool for about 10 minutes on a wire rack before serving warm.
